For many years, Équiterre has been working with its partners - Farm to Cafeteria Canada, the Coalition for Healthy School Food and its Quebec Chapter - to promote food literacy and access to nutritious, sustainable and affordable school meals for children. Together, they plan to organize a pan-Canadian conference on school food programs, bringing together some 400 key players from across the country. Event Project Manager

The Event Project Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, organization, logistics, promotion and staging of the National School Food Conference.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for event communications, project management, financing, partnerships, budgeting and reporting.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project management: Plan, coordinate and monitor the project (deadlines, budget, reports, partnerships).
  • Conference organization: Implement event logistics and programming, in collaboration with partners.
  • Fundraising: Identify opportunities, write grant and sponsorship applications, follow up on agreements.
  • Communications and promotion: Develop and execute communications strategy, create promotional tools, coordinate partners and suppliers.
  • Human resources: Participate in recruiting, training and monitoring the project team.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Preferred minimum 5 years' experience organizing events for more than 350 guests 
  • Fluency in spoken and written French and English (bilingualism is essential)
  • Excellent ability to plan, coordinate and monitor a project with numerous partners 
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage several simultaneous tasks
  • High degree of autonomy and initiative
  • Creativity, thoroughness and attention to detail

ASSETS

  • Familiarity with issues related to food security and food sovereignty and a demonstrated commitment to food justice and anti-oppression
  • Effective at relationship and network building, with proven ability to liaise with a wide range of actors across the sectors of health, education, environment and climate, food systems, as well as academia, public officials and policy makers
  • Demonstrated experience in community outreach, mobilizing, facilitation, organizing, and capacity building including in an online environment

CONDITIONS

  • 28h to 32h/week, based at the Maison du développement durable, in the heart of Montreal's Quartier des spectacles 
  • Temporary position: June 2025 to June 2026 (or depending on the date of the event - until two to four weeks after the event)
  • Flexible work schedule - Teleworking policy, minimum 2-day presence in our offices
  • For the minimum requirements, the hourly rate is between $33.96 and $35.34 (according to Équiterre's salary scale, this rate could be higher if you have more experience and/or training than those required and posted for the position).
  • 4 weeks vacation + 2 weeks annual leave during the holiday season
  • Group insurance and group RRSP (after 3 months)
  • Positive work environment with motivated staff and a strong work ethic
